Lockdown love series – Week 2: Romantic relationships (Day 1)

Whether you’re searching for love or have a partner, Week 2 of this series is for you. The Covid lockdown has drastically changed things for those seeking and in romantic relationships. Things most definitely aren’t easy as we’re finding ourselves either spending too much or too little time in this area of our lives.

Tune in every day of this week for inspo and encouragement on romantic relationships.

Day #1 Appreciation

Showing appreciation towards your partner can come in many different forms. You don’t need expensive gifts and grand gestures to grow your relationship, it’s often the small, everyday gestures that are the most meaningful. Keeping it small and consistent is the key. It could be giving them verbal encouragement on what career they may be pursuing, cooking their favourite meal or even giving them a compliment. Showing consistent levels of appreciation towards your other half helps to nourish and strengthen your relationship.

“Become a connoisseur of your partner. Learn what words, acts, expressions, gifts, and touches are the most meaningful and desired,” is what therapist Dr John Van Epp suggests. I cannot agree more. It’s all about getting to know your partner right to a t so that you can show them your love and appreciation in a way that touches them the most in their heart.

During this Covid lockdown, it can be easy for us to get caught up in the whirlwind of changing situations around us, and we can let things in our relationships slip through. Sometimes we’re so caught up in our own bubbles of how we like to receive appreciation. Consciously step into your partner’s bubble everyday and show them love and appreciation just how they like it the most.
