Lockdown love series – Week 2: Romantic relationships (Day 3)

Day 3 – Patience

Patience can sometimes feel like a lost virtue in our digitally advanced world. With the rise of social media, it feels so natural to have things done instantaneously. We can call or message people that live on the other side of our world in a single click, when before mailed letters used to sometimes take weeks to arrive. Things have undoubtedly become a lot quicker in general thanks to digital advancements.

With the Covid lockdown looming on for longer, it can naturally make you feel more antsy in all aspects of your life, especially when it comes to your relationships. If you’re single, it can feel like a more intense race than ever to find companionship. For those in relationships, long distance may be quickening your urge to settle down and cooped up quarantine couples may be working to settle down frustrations from constant contact. Whatever side of the spectrum you may feel you’re on, now more than ever we need to be patient with ourselves and our partners. Action isn’t always the answer and life is never too short for patience.

Patience is all about accepting the present situation and acknowledging there’s more yet to come. Acceptance and acknowledgement of this is liberating. We truly don’t have ultimate control over situations in both ours and our partner’s lives. Covid has proven exactly that. Trust in life’s mysterious and wonderful plan, there’s so much yet to come!

Tune in every day of this week for inspo and encouragement on romantic relationships.
