Lockdown love series – Week 2: Romantic relationships (Day 5)

Day 5 – Date nights

Dating can feel like quite the challenge for many, even at the best of times. However, adding a lockdown into the equation can make everything feel all the more challenging. Although we may be in lockdown, spending quality, intentional one-on-one time with your partner is more important than ever, and is always possible if you schedule in specific time for it. Whether you’re living under the same roof or apart during this time, there’s many lockdown friendly ways to still have those special date nights together. It’s all about being intentional with eachother and keeping that spark burning in your relationship.

For all the quarantined lovers out there, you may be thinking you’re technically having date nights every evening because you’re always with eachother, but date nights are significantly different to your everyday evenings together. Date nights are planned evenings that aren’t part of your daily routine, something different and special both you and your partner can enjoy exclusively. Despite the restrictions of lockdown, there’s so much you can schedule into your date nights at home. You could cook a different cuisine together, watch a movie, build a blanket fort or even go for a picnic together. The possibilities are endless, just make sure you do something together that’s not usually part of your everyday routine.

For all those forced into long distance relationships because of the lockdown, there’s still ways to have your date nights thankfully due to digital advancements. Try organising a Zoom date night with your partner, dress up and have your very own virtual movie night or YouTube vines marathon. You could even do an online crafts tutorial from YouTube over Zoom and make something together! The key is to keep that virtual time you spend together intentional.

Whether you’re a quarantined couple or long distance lovers, organising regular date nights is crucial in helping to keep that spark burning in your relationship. Try setting your date night once a week, or even once every two weeks to help keep the excitement and spark burning bright in your relationship!

Tune in every day of this week for inspo and encouragement on romantic relationships.
