Day 5 – Memories
There’s nothing quite like looking back on old memories. It’s amazing how looking at one photo or video can send a stream of feelings through our minds and hearts. Every now and then, I love flicking through old family photos and videos, to escape the present momentarily and feel a glimpse of the past.
With growing digital capabilities to capture special moments in our lives, it can be more tempting to capture as much as we can. As tempting as it can feel, always prioritise spending time in the moment with everyone and create those authentic memories together. A picture only speaks a thousand words to your heart when you’ve lived fully in that moment.
During this Covid lockdown, whether you’re under the same roof as your family or in different locations, set aside some time to look through and reminisce on old memories. You could share past family stories, photos and even videos over a Zoom call. Looking back on these memories helps to bring everyone together at a time when the distance may feel vast both physically and emotionally.
Although we’re not able to currently warp time back to the past, it’s exactly what makes us appreciate life and live in the moment. Knowing that we can’t go back to the past and change a memory, is what makes life so precious and brings value to every single moment.
Tune in every day of this week for inspo and encouragement on family relationships.
